What we stand for

The Civil Society

  • In a democratic system, civil society shares values, trust, sharing, and caring; they provide collegial support, the best attributes of clan fraternity, and the ethos of family kinships as a pretext for transitional democracy. They help oversee public services, political parties, and trade unions’ performance.
  • In Sudan, they fought despotism, and in a democracy, they could be equally forceful in fighting all types of corruption, fraud, political patronage, nepotism, and kickbacks. They advocate for civil liberties and human rights, providing humanitarian aid. During the April War, the resistance committee members helped rehabilitate and relocate. They were voices of freedom, peace, and justice. Civil societies give citizens better voting choices and political participation and hold governments accountable. The civil system brings civil society actors with common goals and interests together, develops a unified front supporting democratic ideas, and reduces barriers to collective action. The organizational structures of civil institutions are prototype units of the state.
